The War on Drones
What ones seemed as science fiction technology, has
drastically become part of our every day lives. We all carry what once took up
a whole room in our pockets, and with a touch of a screen have complete access
to the Internet. All these amazing advancements in technology have continued to
develop and began to be applied in every aspects of life, and now they have
taken over the aviation world. The US government has drastically adapted this
technology of using drones, thanks to this development they have been able to
carry out air strikes on the enemy, with out having to put troops in harms way,
and for a fraction of the cost. Like anything else in combat there are many
difficulties, from civilian casualties to the possibility of foreign militaries
stealing the technology, has brought a lot of skepticism to their use. Although
these outcomes are unavoidable, the use of these drones save American lives,
make our troops job easier and have a lower price, what must done is rethink
our strategies, and minimize the casualties.
It’s very hard to justify the deaths of civilian casualties,
in order to kill any terrorist regardless of their rank. Therefor the US
government must stop putting their efforts into covering, or justifying these
deaths and instead focus on how these deaths can be minimize, and if possible
eliminated. An other reason why these deaths need to be eliminated, is the
negative impact they have on the families of these casualties, for every
civilian killed, we are making a family extremely devastated, and easily could
result in one of the family members wishing for revenge, and reaching out to
the Taliban or any other terrorist group. The next issue that needs to be
address is to prevent foreign powers, from getting their hands on this
equipment as it occurred in Iran. As simple as it is for the US government to
use these drones in foreign countries, it would be as easy for terrorist to
carry out attacks in the US if they are to get their hands on this technology.
Combat is never easy, and always complicated. As long as
armed conflicts are carried out between people, innocent people will always be
victims. The drone technology has brought a lot of positives to the war on
terrorism, but it has come at a heavy price, the US is losing the fight to win
the hearts and minds of these foreign people. For these reasons it is paramount
new strategies are used in regards to drone strikes, not using them would be
unrealistic and would cost a lot more US casualties.

You've got the sauce, it just needs the meat.
Try to conduct more research in your editorials, so that your opinions are supported by the experts in the field, fellow scholars, journalists, politicians, etc.
Use facts. How much does a drone cost if it's cheaper than traditional combat?
Find these facts and use them to your advantage.
